Rear Takedown Pin Not Fitting

Posted : admin On 03.11.2019

I've read of some people having tight fits with Noveske lowers, but don't know if that's a factor here.Do you have other uppers/lowers around?I know you said you test-fit the parts before full assembly, but I'd be curious if:The assembled upper will fit on other lowersThe lower will mate with other uppersAs for the Noveske + MUR, you can slap them together and push in the rear takedown pin but you can't push in the front pivot pin? Is that right? Can you visually see any alignment/sticking points?Sorry - I know that's not much help.

Apr 02, 2019  The pin would not go in so I tapped it with the driver handle, it got stuck in place. Figuring it was a pin problem, I did it again with a different pin from another kit. The problem is not the multiple pins I tried, but the lower itself and the final machining I ASSUME. It does not take much really. How to install a set screw in the AR15 rear takedown pin detent hole.

I'm just trying to explore the variables. I have a DD upper and lower, I will try both and see what I get.Yes with the MUR and Noveske I can put the rear pin in but the front will not push through. I looked at it with a flashlight and it looks fine. DON'T tap it in with a mallet until you've done some more investigation!

I'd pull the pivot pin off the lower and then do a careful fit check with just the upper and the pin. Does the pin look okay with no burrs, rough edges, or damage? Does the pin by itself go into the retaining hole in the upper or is it very tight or too tight? If it goes in okay then you probably have an alignment issue between the holes in the upper and lower.Either the hole is too tight, or else you have an alignment issue. (Assuming there are no obstructions.) Maybe just a tolerance stack issue since you've already proved these uppers and lowers do fit some others.

Good luck.Dave. Ok, I want to ge this straight. You took the upper and placed it onto the lower before it was fully assembled and it fit, with no issues? Then you sent it in, and they assembled the rail onto the upper with the barrel and now it will not fit correctly (too tight).Have you contacted ADCO? When you looked into the hole are you saying that it now looks like it is not mating up right?I just had a similar situation, but after contacting the manufacturer they replaced the upper receiver.I pulled the front take down pin out and mated the upper and lower together and looked through the hole. I can tell where the take down pin hits. You could almost file it down to fit it through but I really don't want to do that. Might be me only option though.:(.

I'm happy to say that with some Slip 2000 EWL, a hammer, some painters tape, elbow grease, and a little time everything now goes together smoothly. I had to take the detent out of the take down pin and hammer it through then use another take down pin from another LPK and hammer it back the other way.

It loosened up and now I can pull the pins by hand. Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm glad it works now. Time to take this thing to the range. Here it is.http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/584/dsc0047rv.jpg.

I milled my own lower, and it was really tight on the rear lug of the upper. I couldn't close it at first, much less insert the pin. A few minutes with a file made it close, but it's still snug. I like it this way, because there's no wobble, but I have to mean it to push the rear takedown pin.

Kitab tafsir adhwa'ul bayan mp3. It's not so difficult that I'm tempted to use a tool to force it, though.I'm thinking that since OP's upper and lower are from different manufacturers, he may be in a similar situation.Edit: I totally misread the original post, sorry. The pin not fitting in the lower without the upper is more strange. I would probably file or drill out the hole, but check to see if the hole or the pin is out of spec first.
