Many of you guys are and should be familiar with Image Line’s Fl Studio and Avids’ Pro Tools. They are the two most popular music designing programs, artists and producers use to create and put together music. Now, of course people would prefer one over the other because of the price issue, though either way a lot of money has to be invested to get the full package and optimize your music creating experience. Today, we will go over what each of the music programs do specifically in general terms, how they differ from one another, pros and cons between the two, and some fun facts in the end to make this post less boring.LET’S GO FL StudioFl Studio has been running quite some time, starting from its birth in 1997. But I’m not going to talk about the history (though it is kind of a fun fact because it is becoming a remarkable program since its start) because I’m here to discuss what it does, how capable of it doing the stuff it does, and what kind of a producer or music editor, or anyone in the music industry.FL Studio is a digital audio workstation (DAW), an electronic device or computer software application for recording, editing and producing audio files such as songs, musical pieces, human speech or sound effects.

How can the answer be improved? Supreme commander 2 system requirements.

Find out here on this FL Studio VS Pro Tools post where we break it down! FL Studio VS Pro Tools: Which One is for YOU? October 30, 2016 Artistry Tips, Mixing onthecomeupartists@gmail.com. Tags: Avid, FL Studio, FL Studio VS Pro Tools, Image Line, Pro Tools, Pro Tools VS FL Studio, Vocal Engineering, Vocal Mixing. Mar 31, 2018 - To the people saying that no one uses FL Studio professionally; most hip hop producers use FL Studio. As far as which is better, I have.

Though it has the capabilities to do all, it does need help with VST’s because some of the base FL Studio VST’s are not as good as other VST programs (i.e. Nexus and Sylenth1 to name a couple). Now it may sound like the computer program sucks but this is probably the only downside of FL Studio.FL Studio is primarily used for beat producing, beat mixing, and vocal mixing. The main type of professionals that use this program are producers and DJs. A lot of DJs use this program to create their own songs or sets when they perform on ULTRA or EZOO for example. Now, you can record vocals and mix them in FL Studio, though the base FL Studio plug-ins may not do what you want them to do. You will need some outside VST and plug-ins to get the sounds you want. This is not to say the FL Studio sucks at vocal mixing because there are a shit load of artists out there that mix through FL Studio along with other outside VST/ plug-ins like Hopsin (fun fact: Hopsin does everything himself; writes, records, produces, mixes, and even directs his own videos!)(The Magna Carta Holy Grail song was produced by producer Wondagurl who uses FL Studio.)Pro ToolsPro Tools is another DAW that has been around quite a while and has gained much of the popularity of all DAW in the 90’s and early 2000’s.

In general, Pro Tools is a very advanced system that a lot of professionals use to create highly quality sound. Pro Tools has powerful rendering ability, and it has some amazing built in plug-in’s that in some cases are superior to what comes loaded in other programs. This is one of the major pluses about this program because there are great high quality plug-ins where you do need to spend the extra cash to get other outside VST/plug-ins.The quality of the sound is so great, that movies use this program to edit and mix their sounds. Interestingly enough, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has used this program for their sounds, audio, and sound effects. Pro Tools is also very good at recording, transferring the sound to the program, and editing LIVE. That’s right, you can hook up any instrument to the program and get great results.

This is also not to say that Pro Tools sucks at making beats. This is not the case because famous producers, like Noah “40” Shebib (Drake’s producer) also use Pro Tools for beats. More about this down below under Fun Facts.(Noah “40” Shebib produces and mixes all of Drake’s music on Pro Tools)Pros and Cons of Fl Studio Pros:. Very easy to use, simple. Though quite expensive, it is cheaper than Pro Tools.

Fruity Loops Vs Logic

The better of the two for producing and mixing beats. Because of its simple use, it is easy to create beats and have fun with it.

Image-Line also has videos online to teach the basics to become familiar with the programCons. Not the best at vocal mixing. Outside VST/plug-in may be required. Lack of quality VST/plug-in may cost you more money to purchase better onesPros and Cons of Pro Tools Pros:. Great quality stock VST/plug-ins. Great quality live recordings. The better between the two in vocal editing.

Arguably better at sound mixing (effects) as well. Easy to mix sounds to your liking (if you master the fundamentals and have knowledge on the advanced tools)Cons:.

More expensive than FL Studio. More complex than FL Studio, can become tedious and a pain in the ass the create and produceThoughtsI will try not to be bias towards one or the other; however I do use and enjoy FL Studio. In broad terms, both DAW’s are great.

There are upsides and downsides to both programs and it really is based on what you’re most comfortable with. If you happen to purchase one or the other and feel regretful, please do not feel like you purchased the wrong program. Realistically, you can make similar sound quality with both programs, if you put the time and effort in learning the programs along with the VST/plug-ins they come with or what you purchase outside of the two DAW’s.The process is long, but learning each program takes time and practice. There are a bunch of videos on YouTube that can help you and show you the ways around the program so that you can optimally utilize it. Both are powerful programs that have made music hits (and movies). Fun FactsA throwback album that is known in the hip-hop industry is from the arguably greatest himself, Makaveli, 2Pac’s Don Killuminati was produced using Pro Tools. More big named producers that use Pro Tools include Rick Rubin, Kanye West, and Dr.

Dre.Artists and producers who have used Fl Studio include Metro Boomin, DJ Snake, Hopsin, Martin Garrix, Avicii, Lex Luger, Hit-Boy. One throwback album that has used FL Studio in some of the songs is Kanye’s classic 808s and Heartbreak.

And more big named producers like Wondagurl (Magna Carta Holy Grail, and Bird in the Trap Sing Mcknight producer) and Boi 1da (Not Afraid producer) use FL Studio. What YOU use is YOUR preference, and I highly recommend you use whatever you feel most comfortable with.
